This page explains what is stored on your device when you visit this website, why, and how to change your mind.
The short version
We use one analytics tool, Google Analytics, to understand how many people visit the site and which pages they use. Nothing is set until you agree. We do not use advertising cookies, we do not track you across other websites, and we do not sell or share what we collect with advertisers.
Strictly necessary storage
One item is stored whatever you choose, because it is what remembers your choice. It is not used for tracking and cannot identify you.
- hb-consent-v1 — records whether you accepted or declined analytics. Stored in your browser’s local storage rather than as a cookie, and kept until you clear it or reset your preferences below.
Analytics cookies
These are set by Google Analytics, and only after you accept. Until then they are blocked by Google Consent Mode, which this site sets to “denied” by default on every page.
- _ga — set by Google. Distinguishes one visitor from another so repeat visits are not counted as new people. Lasts up to 2 years.
- _ga_2JMX6W5D00 — set by Google. Holds the state of your current visit for this specific site. Lasts up to 2 years.
We use this to see how many people reach the site, which pages they read and roughly where they arrive from. We do not use it to identify individuals, and we have not enabled advertising features, audience sharing or cross-site tracking on the property.
Google acts as our processor for this and may process the data outside the UK. Google’s own description of how it uses data is published at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.
What we do not use
For the avoidance of doubt, this site loads no advertising tags, no Google Ads conversion tracking, no Tag Manager container, no Meta or LinkedIn pixel, and no social media tracking of any kind. If that ever changes, this page will be updated before the tag goes live, and you will be asked again.
Changing your mind
You can withdraw your agreement at any time, and it is as easy to withdraw as it was to give. Use the control at the bottom of this page to clear your stored choice and be asked again. Declining stops analytics cookies being set; it does not affect any part of the site’s functionality.
You can also block or delete cookies in your browser’s own settings. Doing so may affect other websites as well as this one.
